NDIS participants of all ages who require assistance to travel may be eligible. This includes people who have difficulty using public transport independently, who need support getting to medical appointments, community activities, or employment, or who require a disability-accessible vehicle. Eligibility depends on the transport-related goals and needs recorded in your NDIS plan.
Transport can be funded in two ways. First, as a dedicated Transport support budget (Support Category 2), which provides a daily or weekly transport allowance. Second, as part of your Core Supports budget under the Social and Community Access category, where a support worker’s time accompanying you to activities is funded.
