Severe Weather Alert: Everything you should know about Cyclone Alfred

Cyclone Alfred has intensified to Category 2 and is expected to make landfall between Brisbane and Noosa overnight. Residents should prepare for severe weather conditions.

  • Heavy rainfall and destructive winds exceeding 100 km/h are expected
  • State Emergency Services (SES) are on high alert with flood rescue teams on standby.
  • Residents are urged to prepare emergency kits and evacuation plans.

Brisbane City Council Update

Free green waste drop off is now available at all 4 resource recovery centres (RRCs). Residents are urged to clean up their properties ahead of possible severe weather.

The RRCs are open from 6.30am to 5.45pm every day, located at:

Willawong – 360 Sherbrooke Road

Chandler – 728 Tilley Road

Ferny Grove – 101 Upper Kedron Road

Nudgee – 1372 Nudgee Road

Sandbags are also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for collection from the following locations:

Darra – 38 Shamrock Road, Darra

Morningside – 9 Redfern Street, Morningside

Newmarket – 66 Wilston Road (in carpark off Erneton Street), Newmarket

Zillmere – 33 Jennings Street, Zillmere

Lota – Herbert Street, Lota.
